Every traveler, regardless of nationality or visa type, must complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival.

Indonesia’s immigration framework has undergone significant changes in recent years. The current system is designed to be more accessible and streamlined, particularly for travelers from eligible countries.

The Two Main Pathways for Short-Term Visitors

For Qatar residents traveling to Indonesia for tourism or short business visits, there are two primary visa pathways:

Visa on Arrival (VOA) / e-VOA (Index B1)

This is the most common and straightforward option for passport holders from eligible countries. You can either:

Apply online before travel (e-VOA) recommended
Obtain it at the airport upon arrival (VOA)

C1 Tourist Visit Visa

This is for travelers whose passports are not eligible for VOA, or for those who want to stay longer than 60 days. It must be applied for before travel.

The 2025 Visa Classification Reform

In June 2025, Indonesia introduced a new visa classification system under Minister of Immigration and Corrections Decree No. M.IP-08.GR.01.01 of 2025. The new framework divides all visa types into two categories:

Visit Stay Visas (covering A, B, C, D, and F visa types for short stays)
Temporary Stay Visas (the E-series for limited and permanent stays)

The C-series single-entry visit visas now range from C1 to C22, each with specific permitted activities. The old B211A visa is now the C1 Tourist Visit Visa.

Register an account and verify your email within 1 hour
Upload your passport bio page and a recent photo (JPG/JPEG/PNG, under 200KB)
Enter arrival and accommodation details
Pay IDR 500,000 with Mastercard, Visa, or JCB (3D Secure required)
Download your e-VOA from your account once approved

Apply at least 48 hours before departure.

Return or onward ticket out of Indonesia

Overstay: What It Costs and What Happens

Overstaying your visa is taken very seriously in Indonesia.

Converting C1 to KITAS

The conversion process typically takes 4–6 weeks

VOA (B1) cannot be converted to a KITAS. If you think you might want to stay longer, start with the C1.

Assuming your Qatar ID gives you visa‑free access. It doesn’t. Visa policy is based on your passport.
Forgetting the arrival card. Everyone needs to complete it within 3 days of arrival.
Leaving it to the last minute. Apply for your visa and arrival card at least two weeks before travel.
Not checking passport validity. Needs to be valid for 6 months beyond travel.
Ignoring overstay fines. They start at IDR 1,000,000 per day.
Using the wrong visa category. VOA when you need C1 (or vice versa) can cause serious problems.
